Workroom Pricing
and Quoting Toolkit
One of the first questions a new workroom needs to answer is “How much do I charge?” Honestly, it can take years of trial and error to figure that out. This system includes templates and instructions to help you determine the best pricing for your business and present your quote to your client. These spreadsheets are for both new and experienced workroom professionals.
This system uses Canva Sheets. They work much like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers, but they’re more visually appealing, offer more options, and have an easier learning curve. All the formulas are already built in, so you won’t have to do any math — just fill in the white spaces with the specs from your job, and the numbers you need to fabricate and price it will be calculated automatically.
Before You Dig In
I know you’re eager to get started, but watch the videos and read the written instructions first — they’ll walk you through everything in a clear sequence so it all makes sense.
If you’re new to Canva, or new to this business, it may feel overwhelming at first. Once you spend some time with it and get past the learning curve, everything will fall into place. You’re investing in building the profit structure that will let you make the money you deserve for the products you put out into the world.
Pace yourself, and thoroughly explore each step before moving to the next. This is the mathematical part of the business — not the most fun part, but it’s the reason you’re in business.
What This Module Covers
This module is your hands-on preview: Module 1, Lesson 1, Shop Rate Calculations — the foundation everything else in the course is built on.
This pricing system is fully customizable to your business model, whether you’re a:
Wholesale workroom
Retail workroom
Hybrid workroom serving both wholesale and retail
Solo operator or team-based shop
Home-based or brick-and-mortar business
Standard custom construction shop, or a luxury / bespoke construction shop
Prefilled examples of the calculation worksheets are included so you can see how they work. You can add or remove products as needed. Profitable pricing varies by business and region, so feel free to adjust these sheets to fit your own needs.
What the Full Course Covers
The full course toolkit takes you all the way from building your pricing structure to presenting a polished quote to your client. When you have the complete system, here’s what you’re working with:
The Workroom Pricing Development Worksheet guides you through the process of determining the best pricing structure for your business.
The Workroom Price List Template gives you a format for organizing your company’s price list.
The Workroom Quoting Worksheet Template is where you’ll calculate pricing and yardage for the products you sell to clients, along with a Reference Guide containing all the tables of precalculated information — you may want to print this out for quick reference.
The Client Proposal Template helps you present your quote to clients with pictures and information, in a professional, clean, modern format.
The complete system also includes a 17-page product calculator covering everything from draperies and valances to pillows, bedskirts, and reupholstery — more on that at the end of this preview.
Beyond Lesson 1, the full course also walks you through:
Time Studies — tracking how long each product takes to make and its cost of goods sold
Establishing Product Pricing — setting your price for each product you sell
Building Pricing Tiers — creating tiers for the range of clients and markets you serve
Building Bundle Pricing — rolling linings and labor into a single, ready-to-quote price
